Jacobs Civil Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Transit and Rail Reliability Availability Maintainability Safety (RAMS) Engineering Professional Career Level.
Responsibilites:
Utilize specialized knowledge to perform and lead project level and technical review tasks to support RAMS and System Assurance activities across various rail systems. Utilize highly specialized knowledge of Jacobs' in-house technologies and methodologies to assist Jacobs and its customers in fully utilizing the complex functionality of the technology to meet their business needs. Quality, Reliability and Maintainability activities associated with review of revenue and non-revenue fleet analysis, review of availability reports, inventory audits, review and monitoring of corrective maintenance activities, system operation audits, Quality Assurance Audits and document reviews for various railways projects. Provide technical support for Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI), Bench Test Equipment (BTE) acceptance testing, system commissioning, PTE demonstrations, dynamic and static PICO tests, as well as functional and system-level acceptance testing for railway systems. Responsible for technical reviews and compliance of system assurance activities, and overall acceptance of all RAMS studies produced by the Contractors for various railway projects. Support the development of System Assurance Specifications for railway locomotive and passenger car projects, ensuring alignment with safety, reliability, and performance standards throughout the system lifecycle. Interact daily with multiple levels of clients to provide a clear understanding or capability of appreciating User requirement context for transit projects and support the activities - including Operations, Maintenance, Training, Testing and Commissioning. Work with other members of the team to lead and conduct detailed reviews of complex analyses and processes to deliver complex projects.
Hybrid schedule is allowed.
TRAVEL: up to 40% domestic travel to visit project sites.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 9 years of work experience in the job offered or related Transit and Rail Engineering occupation. As an alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 11 years of work experience in the job offered or related Transit and Rail Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
Expertise and knowledge of: Applying Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) engineering principles to railway systems and infrastructure.Safety-critical system design and assurance processes, including RAM and Safety analysis, hazard analysis, and Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Demonstrations. Applying international safety and reliability standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC 61508, and MIL-STD-882, NFPA-130 and equivalent standards. Conducting RAMS analyses for railway systems including Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC), Automatic Train Protection (ATP), rolling stock, and wayside equipment. Develop and review RAMS documentation including RAM Plans, Safety Plans, FMECA, Hazard Logs, and Safety Cases. Supporting the development of RAMS Specifications for railway locomotive and passenger car projects, with demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and performance standards across all phases of the system lifecycle, while effectively meeting customer requirements. Experience across the full system lifecycle; including design, testing, commissioning, and execution of RAM and safety demonstrations activities in the field. Quality assurance practices, particularly in performing First Article Inspections (FAI) to confirm alignment with design specifications, manufacturing standards, and testing protocols.
