Atlantic Health System Nursing Educator (RN), Full Time Days, 7a - 3p, Atlantic Health, Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey

Responsible for assisting with the professional role development of members of the Nursing Department as well as the implementation of programs to improve the quality of care delivered.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Ensures all on-the-job training is consistent with guidelines established

  2. Ensures that site trainers/preceptors have the knowledge, tools, and attitude to effectively train staff

  3. Acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options

  4. Works with the Operations team in identifying changes that should be made in the nursing practice and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaption to change. Strives for excellence in patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions.

  5. Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.

  6. Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required:

  1. Master's Degree Required

  2. BLS Required Specialty Certification Required

  3. Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care?experience in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse

  4. Valid New Jersey Nursing License

  1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

  2. Patient, compassionate nature

  3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses

  4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems

    Essential Job Functions

  • Functions as clinical instructor on designated unit for local universities

  • Adheres to university adjunct professor requirements regarding curriculum and grading

  • Adheres to Atlantic Health System requirements regarding student to instructor ratio

  • Ensures students are adhering to all Atlantic Health System policies regarding parking, hygiene, and patient care requirements.

  • Participates in required on- campus activities such as simulation for clinical course

  • Gathers data to monitor student outcomes at beginning and conclusion of clinical rotation

  • Facilitates student engagement on unit and promotes AHS Nurse Externship and Hire Learner Programs

  • Assists unit educator and clinical nurse specialist in unit-based education needs (Hire Learner Education, cross-training education, simulation days, competency days)

  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications for JFNE Labor & Delivery

    Required:

    1. MSN Required

    2. Minimum of 2 years of Acute Care experience in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse

    3. Valid New Jersey Nursing License

    Preferred:

    1. Specialty Certification Required preferred

    Relevant Experience

  • Recent minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience as a registered nurse in a hospital setting. Experience is to be in the area of JFNE specialization (i.e. Maternity, Labor & Delivery with certification)

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Patient, compassionate nature

  • Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians, nurses and nursing students

  • Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems

  • Education experience preferred

  • NRP, ACLS, PALS preferred
