Jacobs, has a great opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join and help grow our national tunnel practice. You’ll work as part of our practice consisting of over 100 engineers in North America, and over 800 globally. As a Mechanical Engineer supporting our tunnel work you will have the opportunity to follow projects from the conceptual phase through the construction phase, working on a variety of complex transportation projects.
When you join us, you’ll be responsible for:
Manage and coordinate tunnel ventilation works from concept to construction in support of project requirements
Perform tunnel ventilation analysis using 1D and 3D computational modelling tools (i.e. SES and CFD) and develop innovative designs, meeting our client’s expectations
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines within the tunnel systems team to help complete assigned tasks and projects
Assisting in the bidding process of future work and developing/strengthening networking channels
Participate in site inspections of tunnels and related infrastructure facilities as and when required
Hold a Bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical or equivalent engineering degree
PE in the state of NJ or NY or the ability to obtain within six months
Have five to seven years of experience in tunnel ventilation and mechanical ventilation design
Be knowledgeable on 1D & 3D modelling tools (SES, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, FDS) and evacuation software, and HVAC Systems would be beneficial
Have good knowledge of NFPA with emphasis on NFPA 130 and NFPA 502, and fire life safety codes
Have knowledge of CAD Software using AutoCAD / Microstation / BIM
