Solstice Advanced Materials Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property in Morris Plains, New Jersey
As an Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property at Solstice, you will have a significant impact on the company's intellectual property strategy and protection. You will also provide general intellectual property legal advice & services to certain chemicals related businesses within Solstice. With your legal expertise, you will assist in the management of critical patent operations for Solstice. By providing legal counsel and guidance on IP matters, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Solstice's IP rights are protected and enforced. Your advice will help the business units and senior management make informed decisions regarding patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Overall, as an Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property, your role will have a direct impact on Solstice's ability to protect its innovations, maintain a strong IP portfolio, and drive business growth through strategic intellectual property management. Your contributions will help Solstice stay at the forefront of technology and maintain a competitive advantage in the market.
Responsibilities
Provide IP support to the RAS and ESM businesses within Solstice
Develop, implement business specific IP strategies
Hands-on management of patent acquisition process and portfolio consistent with IP strategy
Ensure compliance with trade secret security programs; augment as required
Product clearance (FTP)
Lead/support (as applicable) transactions involving IP rights including M&A, commercial contracts, JDAs, licensing
Proactively monitor industries to identify, assess, abate infringement
Litigation related work in support of IP strategy – affirmative, defensive (opposition, IPR, court actions)
Client education and advice
Management of outside counsel (including patent preparation & prosecution/spend)
Advise on copyright and trademark issues; partner with outside counsel and the business to identify and clear trademarks and tradenames, and prosecute trademark applications globally
Assist with the management of patent operations for Solstice
Develop the annual operating plans (budgets) for IP and manage performance to that plan
Maintain quality, cycle times and economy for all aspects of patent acquisition and portfolio maintenance
Ensure compliance with all Solstice IP procedures/policy including freedom to practice, new product introductions, enforcement, licensing and IP transactional matters, third party submissions, publication clearance among other, virtual patent marking
Perform one-over-one review for critical FTP and other matters as requested
Identify quality and efficiency opportunities for the function, recommend & implement appropriate plans including for use of AI
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
At least 10 years of substantive experience in intellectual property matters
JD from an accredited law school
Self-starter with a strong bias for action and ability to drive projects to a close
Good business acumen
Ability to influence and lead at all levels in a multi-national matrix organization
Creative & Innovative
Good communicator

PAY RANGE
The annual base salary range for this position is $210,800 - 263,500. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Solstice considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
