Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The General Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance and minor mechanical repairs on material-handling and other distribution center equipment. This role uses a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete scheduled maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and support the safe and efficient operation of conveyor systems and facility infrastructure. The technician also handles general building maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs, to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks on material-handling and distribution center equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and established maintenance practices.

  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to access, complete, and document preventive maintenance work orders and repair activities.

  • Conduct minor mechanical repairs on conveyors and other distribution equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Maintain efficient operation of material handling equipment by clearing jams, removing foreign materials, and addressing basic mechanical issues.

  • Perform general building maintenance, including lamp replacement, simple construction tasks, and minor repairs to facility structures.

  • Assist with basic wiring tasks and simple electrical maintenance as directed.

  • Support the repair and adjustment of overhead doors to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Perform basic plumbing tasks, such as minor repairs and adjustments to facility plumbing systems.

  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic components as needed for equipment maintenance and minor repairs.

  • Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete maintenance and repair tasks.

  • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on equipment and building systems.

  • Collaborate with team members, accept feedback, and adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintenance needs.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on industrial or material-handling equipment.

  • Experience using basic hand and power tools safely and effectively for maintenance tasks.

  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on conveyor systems and related material-handling equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems sufficient to assist with simple wiring and troubleshooting tasks.

  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues at a minor repair level.

  • Ability to perform general building maintenance, including lamp replacement, simple construction, and minor plumbing work.

  • Capacity to clear equipment jams and remove foreign materials from material-handling systems safely.

  • Mechanically inclined, with the ability to learn equipment operation and maintenance procedures quickly.

  • Ability to accept feedback, follow directions, and adapt quickly to changing maintenance priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for accessing and completing work orders.

  • Experience working with conveyor maintenance or other distribution center equipment.

  • Exposure to hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial or facility maintenance environment.

  • Basic understanding of overhead door operation and maintenance.

  • General knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and structural components.

  • Willingness to continuously develop technical skills and maintenance knowledge.

Work Environment

This role operates in a distribution center environment with active material-handling and conveyor equipment. Work involves regular use of basic hand and power tools and interaction with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The position requires moving through different areas of the facility, working around running equipment, and occasionally accessing overhead doors and elevated components as directed. Hours and shifts may vary based on operational needs, and the technician may respond to equipment issues as they arise to support continuous operations. Appropriate work attire typically includes practical, safety-conscious clothing suitable for an industrial facility, along with any required personal protective equipment provided according to site safety standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Moreno Valley, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
