This position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the MCF-Moose Lake Volunteer Services Program. These duties involve handling all matters pertaining to volunteers, including but not limited to; recruitment, screening, and training of volunteers; working with the staff and volunteers to develop and maintain programs; to maintain accurate records of volunteer involvement, and to assist in creating new volunteer programs as needed. This position also provides coordination and supervision of the Incarcerated persons elective programming as well as facilitation/instruction for assigned Incarcerated Individual programming.

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held .

  • One (1) year of experience directly involved with volunteer work and event planning.

  • Experience in planning, developing, organizing, tasking, administering, and evaluating a volunteer program.

  • Knowledge of methods used in developing a coordinated program of volunteer services.

  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures used in the development and utilization of community resources.

  • The ability to plan and administer a program of recruitment, screening, placement, and training of volunteer workers.

  • The ability to communicate effectively, including public presentations and facilitating discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position :

  • Experience working with incarcerated individuals.

  • Experience working with public and community groups.

  • Organizational skills sufficient to multitask and perform responsibilities in various stages of completion.

  • Communication and human relation skills sufficient to ensure successful training and mentoring of volunteer staff.

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information.

Physical Requirements

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
