Job Summary:

About the Role:

The Community and Connection Coordinator will advance the college’s commitment to a welcoming and inclusive student experience by coordinating student-centered belonging initiatives and advising student leaders. This position provides primary advising to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC) and supports campus-wide cultural and community-based programming, including signature events such as MLK Day and the Cobber Winter Classic.

The Coordinator advises student leaders within Student Government Association (SGA) related to elections processes and contributes to a vibrant campus community by fostering student leadership through involvement, developing programs, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance belonging and engagement.

Job Duties/What You'll Do

  • Programming support for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (DEIC)

  • Advise DEIC student leaders in planning and executing programs.

  • Support development of inclusive, culturally responsive programming.

  • Oversee logistics including contracts, risk management, and Student Activity Fee budget allocated to DEIC.

  • Guide assessment of program effectiveness and student engagement.

  • Coordinate campus belonging and community programming

  • Lead implementation of signature programs (MLK Day, Cobber Winter Classic, Dia de los Muertos, Ramadan, etc.)

  • Support identity-based and community student organization initiatives.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to enhance campus community experience.

  • Support Student Government Association (SGA) elections, hiring, and processes.

  • Advise SGA Elections and Credentials Council (ECC).

  • Coordinate logistics, communication, and execution of elections and hiring.

  • Ensure compliance with SGA governing documents and institutional policies.

  • Support recruitment and onboarding of student leaders.

  • Support student organizations and belonging/community-focused engagement.

  • Connect student organizations to campus resources and collaborative opportunities

  • Promote engagement through Cobber Connect and other platforms

  • Encourage community through cross-major program collaboration.

  • Serve as a liaison to the Office of Admissions to highlight current programming and engagement and to identify areas of partnership.

  • Contribute to Office of Student Engagement Initiatives

  • Support large-scale campus programs and collaborative initiatives.

  • Utilize OSE’s curricular approach to learning in program development, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Represent the OSE at campus events, including Admissions programming.

  • Serve on committees and contribute to Mission & Inclusion divisional priorities as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3 years’ experience in a related field

  • Working knowledge of best practices in student activities, leadership development, diversity, equity and inclusion education trends, and/or event planning.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in student personnel administration or related program

  • five years’ experience in a student activities related role

  • Experience at a liberal arts college.

The final salary will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and alignment with the position's requirements. Other considerations may include internal equity and market conditions.
