Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist will set up and operate CNC machines, primarily CNC Swiss equipment, to produce precision components for aerospace and medical applications. This role involves performing daily setups, running production, and supporting other machining operations as needed in a small, modern, and collaborative shop environment.
Responsibilities
Set up CNC machines, with a focus on CNC Swiss lathes, for daily production runs, typically performing at least one setup per shift and additional setups as required by the job schedule.
Operate CNC machines, including mills and lathes, to produce small precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining processes, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments to offsets, tooling, and feeds and speeds to maintain quality and efficiency.
Inspect parts during and after production using measurement tools and, where applicable, CMM equipment to ensure they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
Assist with running other machines on the floor, such as CNC mills and conventional or CNC lathes, to support overall production needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around machines and shared shop spaces.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot machining issues, optimize setups, and improve processes.
Document setups, adjustments, and inspection results as required by shop procedures and quality standards.
Care for equipment by performing basic preventive maintenance and promptly reporting any mechanical or quality issues.
Essential Skills
Hands-on setup experience on CNC lathes, with specific experience on Swiss-style lathes.
Proficiency in operating CNC machines in a production environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and workholding for small precision parts.
Experience inspecting parts to tight tolerances using standard measuring tools.
Ability to work independently on setups and production while also supporting team needs.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts for aerospace and medical applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating CNC mills or additional lathe platforms.
CMM experience for detailed inspection and verification of machined components.
working in aerospace or medical manufacturing environments.
Comfort working with mill-turn equipment or multi-axis machining centers.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new machines and technologies.

Work Environment
The role is based in a smaller, family-oriented machine shop equipped with newer CNC machines, including CNC Swiss equipment, mills, and lathes. The layout is somewhat compact, so work areas are close together, but the shop is organized and functional. You will work directly on modern machining centers and inspection equipment, including CMMs where applicable. The environment emphasizes teamwork, safety, and quality, with a focus on small, precise parts rather than large components. Standard shop attire suitable for a CNC machining environment is expected, and you will spend most of the day on or around the production floor operating and supporting CNC equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
