Maintenance Mechanic: Level 3 (Senior)
Reports To: Engineer
Full-Time || 1st shift- 7:00am-3:30 pm
With Overtime Available and mandatory Saturday (6:00am-12:00pm) alternate weekends
Position Summary
The Level 3 Maintenance Mechanic is a highly skilled mechanical maintenance professional responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and reliability of production and legacy facility equipment. This role works independently, leads complex maintenance activities, mentors junior mechanics, and supports continuous improvement of maintenance practices. It is required to have hands-on experience with manual machine shop equipment such as mills, surface grinders, presses, and legacy production machinery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair complex mechanical failures on production and facility equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, presses, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Perform precision mechanical work such as shaft alignment, bearing installation, balancing, and tolerance-critical repairs.
Maintaining and restoring older industrial machinery, including fabrication or modification of obsolete parts
Lead major equipment overhauls, shutdown maintenance, and emergency repairs.
Conduct root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Develop, revise, and improve preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
Mentor and train Level 1 and Level 2 mechanics; provide technical guidance and job oversight.
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, including lockout/tag out, confined space, and machine guarding requirements.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
Coordinate with operations, engineering, and supervision to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Accurately document work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities in the CMMS.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
Minimum 5-8 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated expertise in mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and repair.
Strong working knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures.

Welding and basic fabrication (as applicable)

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in industrial environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying environmental conditions.
Machine shop environment - Exposure to moving machinery, noise, dust, heat, and varying temperatures.
