Amergis School Athletic Trainer (AT) – with RSY '26-'27 Extension in Monrovia, California
Position Description
Under the direction of site and district administration, the Athletic Trainer (AT) supports the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes by providing injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. The Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with coaches, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to ensure student-athletes safely participate in interscholastic athletic programs.
This position directly supports our districts to provide an exceptional education and ensure all students are prepared for college, career, and life by fostering safe, supportive, and student-centered athletic environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide on-site athletic training services for practices, competitions, and school-sponsored athletic events
Prevent, recognize, evaluate, treat, and manage athletic injuries and medical conditions
Administer first aid and emergency medical care , including concussion protocols, heat illness response, and sudden cardiac events
Develop and oversee rehabilitation and injury prevention programs appropriate to secondary students
Coordinate return-to-play protocols in collaboration with physicians, families, and school administration
Maintain accurate athletic injury records, treatment notes, and reports in accordance with district and legal requirements
Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, coaches, administrators, and medical professionals
Educate student-athletes on health, safety, injury prevention, nutrition, and hydration
Ensure compliance with CIF guidelines, district policies, and applicable state and federal regulations
Participate in professional learning and maintain required certifications and continuing education
Perform related duties as assigned to support student safety and district athletic programs
Required Qualifications
To legally use the “Athletic Trainer (AT)” title in the State of California, candidates must meet all requirements :
Graduation from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program
Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification for Athletic Trainers
Active Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification (CPR, AED, First Aid)
Completion of all required continuing education to maintain certification
Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings, background checks, and district clearances
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a secondary school or school-based athletic setting
Knowledge of CIF rules and interscholastic athletics
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
