Wage Range: $49.84 - $92.24 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, applicable education and internal equity.

JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Adheres to Hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Heart of the Matter principles. Implements, administers and evaluates pre-procedure program which includes processes for patient undergoing surgical and other non- invasive and invasive procedures. Processes and coordinates the pre-procedure diagnostics and anesthetic care. Maintains relationships with physicians and their office staffs. Works with clinical care areas to create a seamless patient care process for the patient undergoing surgical and other invasive procedures. Directs activity of patient procedure schedulers. Organizes and administers individualized perioperative care to the surgical patient. Participates in patient education. Participates in unit Quality Improvement evaluation activities. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to function on unit. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provides age specific treatment and care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and currently licensed to practice in WA. Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS). Two years current experience in an ambulatory care unit. Demonstrated program development skills. Strong time and work load management skills.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop productive relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to initiate a pre-operative nursing care plan and utilize the nursing process. Ability to prioritize and organize patient information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS :
Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease and risk of physical injury from lifting patients and operation of equipment. Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to exposure to hazardous material.
WORK CONTACT GROUP :
All hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff.
SUPERVISED BY : Clinical Nurse Manager of Perioperative Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TECHNICALAssesses the comprehensive nursing needs of the surgical and procedural patient’s needs,including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, educational and discharge planning.
Plans preoperative patient teaching consistent with established standards of care, policies and procedures, and other regulatory standards.
Performs preoperative nursing assessments by telephone
Communicates effectively all relevant information (e.g. patient information, safety issues problems with equipment, quality issues etc.) to immediate supervisor in a timely way
Participates with physician partners and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient and family/
significant other plan of careProvides or assists with orientation of new/existing staff
Communicates any patient changes of status and preop plan to all other members of the preop team
Completes assigned competencies per hospital requirements and policies
Assists with development and revision of policies and procedures for the preoperative patient as appropriate
