Temporary Need: 04/15/26 - 02/12/27. One (1) full-time, seasonal, temporary Sheepherder needed. Wage is $2,058.31/month.
Must have 3 months experience and provide (1) reference from previous employer with knowledge of applicants skills. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
Location: Work will be performed in Monroe, UT. This position will require that the worker will have a 24/7 on call general schedule.
Duties:
Attend to livestock feeds and waters livestock by tractor and/or team on range or at ranch headquarters lambing, maintaining sheep herd health. Builds & cleans corrals. Wean lambs, vaccinations and pregnancy check ewes. Moves livestock to pasture for grazing. Assist with castration of livestock, and identification marking. Maintain all fences, corrals, cabins, buildings, range improvements, and livestock equipment used for proper cattle management. Cleans livestock stalls and sheds, using disinfectant solutions, brushes and shovels. Must have knowledge of building and repair of fence, irrigation knowledge and management, planting, cultivating and harvesting hay for livestock. Maintain ranch buildings. Maintain equipment in a working condition and observe safe practices. Assist with the shipping of ewes and lambs. Longer hours (night shifts during lambing) and more days (up to 7 days per week) may be required when feeding sheep supplemental rations, lambing season, irrigation and haying season. Workers must be willing and able to perform all duties according to the employers requirements during the contract period. Workers will be expected to work in conditions normally associated with Utah climatic conditions.
Terms and conditions of employment: Tools, room, board, kitchen facilities and transportation provided at no cost to the worker. Must provide employment eligibility documentation (I9 verification) upon hire. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. Prospective workers must provide a reference from an employer reference who can verify the workers experience and satisfactory work performance. If related experience is older than 2 years, a second reference with contact information is required. Applicants must provide the name, address and telephone number of their references. The employer guarantees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work days equal to at least 3/4's of the total work period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or advertised contractual first day of need. Whichever is later to occur, and ending on the expiration date specified. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer shall pay the worker the cost incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer ($16.28/day, maximum $68/day with receipts). The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage issued and determined by DOL for the time period the work is performed (or whichever is the highest pay rate.
