Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Performs advance repairs, troubleshooting and modifications to all types of HVAC and refrigeration Systems. Performs major competed system overhauls of large tonnage, high horsepower centrifugal and reciprocating chillers and refrigeration equipment used in comfort conditioning and in large walk in food coolers and freezers. Operates, regulates, and adjusts domestic and hot water boilers, circulation pumps, chillers, and refrigeration systems associated with building operation.

  • Performs highly specialized electrical power installations; pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls; and sheet metal and plumbing installations relative to each job.

  • Performs major replacements, new installations and modifications of HVAC and refrigeration equipment of all sizes. Regulates flow and starts and stops pumps, chillers, hot water systems, etc. associated with HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Assists in the training of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanics and apprentices. Oversees work of subordinate mechanics. Estimates time and material for repair jobs.
