We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Risk & Control reporting to Chief Control Officer.
Principal responsibilities
Managing Risk and Control Assessments for non-financial risks and financial risks in conjunction with other Hang Seng Insurance Business Units (BUs).
Driving the embeddedness and continuous improvement of the HSBC risk management framework (e.g. trigger management, control design and operating effectiveness).
Supporting the BUs in issue/ incident identification, escalation, and management, including root cause analysis and design of effective remediation plans with achievable timeframe to prevent recurrence.
Cultivating risk and control mindset into change initiative (new products, process changes, technology releases) launches/ deployments.
Working within the governance framework support the BUs to provide clear sight of emerging risks and incident trends across their function, resulting in proactive and timely responses.
Proactively engage with the 2LoD and 3LoD teams, where appropriate, acting as the key interface supporting Operations management in setting strategy and direction for remediation of high risk findings to ensure similar risk issues are proactively mitigated.
Strengthening controls and ability to achieve cost efficiencies in line with market, client demand and service expectations. In particular, lead the controls review for key strategic change programmes within their remit, ensuring that optimum control design is achieved and transformation risk is minimised.
Partnering closely with the business line and their peers, drive the delivery of the Hang Seng Insurance strategy for risk reduction.
Overseeing the production of risk and control management reports and articulating the findings and recommendations to relevant senior audiences.
Managing conduct, conflict of interest, market abuse and other regulatory related risks for Hang Seng Insurance.
Driving risk culture interventions (e.g., targeted communications, training/briefings, lessons-learned from incidents, thematic insights) to improve behaviours and control discipline.
Requirements
University degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in insurance or banking, with exposure to risk management, internal controls, audit and sound knowledge of retail banking, investment markets, insurance products and regulations, operational risk management, control monitoring or other related areas
Proven ability to design, assess, and improve controls; comfortable challenging constructively.
Strong understanding of risk and control methodologies (e.g., RCA, control testing, issue & incident management).
Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence across senior levels.
Strong analytical and reporting skills; able to translate complex risk topics into clear actions; and strong business acumen with good problem solving, communication and analytical skills
Experience supporting audit/regulatory engagements and managing remediation.
Confident working with data (e.g., MI dashboards, trend analysis);
Strong business sense, self-motivated with good communication, logical and positive thinking, interpersonal and analytical skills
Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective deliverables
Advanced stakeholder management and influencing abilities
Proven leadership and team development skills
Proficiency in both English and Chinese
Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
