Douglas Education Center Maintenance Technician/Custodian in Monessen, Pennsylvania
Douglas Education Center is currently seeking a full-time Custodian/Maintenance Tech with a common-sense approach to perform a wide variety of cleaning, repairs and maintenance. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of multiple buildings/areas as assigned, and working with the maintenance department as needed performing skilled labor. Previous maintenance/cleaning experience is required.

- Candidate must have a valid and current PA driver's license ยท Working knowledge of, experience with, and use of building materials, equipment, and tools.
- Must be able to lift and carry 100 pounds
- Experience in performing carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work preferred
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for interior and exterior of buildings, including repairs, maintenance and construction as needed
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
- Gather and empty trash
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
- Ensure facilities are maintained and perform any small repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, etc.
- Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in the construction or repair of housing, buildings and other structures
- Building renovation and demolition
- Responsible for outdoor maintenance, such as snow removal/salting, basic landscaping/yard work (mowing, trimming, cutting), leaf removal, etc.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs to prepare facilities for various events and meetings
- Ability to transport supplies from building to building as needed
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures and to prevent injuries to self/others
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies either manually or by using hand trucks
- Notify Supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- Other duties as assigned
Full-time schedule available, typically off-business hours. Compensation commensurate with experience.
