JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a mid-level Manufacturing Engineer to lead assembly process optimization and New Product Introduction (NPI). This role is critical in transitioning to our new state-of-the-art Monee facility, focusing on plant layout optimization, workflow efficiency, and New Product Introductions (NPI).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assembly Process Design & Optimization: Analyze and improve assembly layouts, workflow, and methods to maximize efficiency and reduce work-in-process (WIP) storage.
Plant Layout & Workflow: Design and implement optimized plant floor configurations and workstations to ensure safe and efficient material flow.
New Product Introductions (NPI): Serve as the manufacturing lead for product launches, drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), lead manufacturing readiness for next-generation crane models including electrification initiatives.
Lean & Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives (Kaizens, 5S) and perform root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) to resolve bottlenecks and eliminate waste.
Process Documentation: Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs) for complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies.
Capital Projects: Identify and justify capital equipment investments, overseeing the installation and validation of new manufacturing technology.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
3-6+ years of Engineering experience in heavy equipment or automotive including
g., Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Design, Process, Tooling, etc.
g., Cranes, construction equipment, or automotive
g., Chemical industry with complex and integrated processes
1-3+ years of specialized Assembly manufacturing within Manufacturing Engineering
Assembly cell and/or complete assembly line designs and their implementation
Material Logistics (PFEP, kitting, POU, two-bin kanban)
Quality & Compliance (PFMEA, standard work instructions, testing)
DFMA (part consolidation, modular sub-assemblies, mistake proofing)
Implementation of Lean & CI with improved business metric results
Metrics, goals, root cause problem solving, visual daily management, VSM, 6S, kaizen
g., Safety (injury reduction), Quality (scrap, rework, warranty), Delivery (throughput-capacity, on-time delivery, lead-time), Cost (productivity, headcount), Inventory
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical
Travel: 10-15% to other manufacturing sites, suppliers, customers
Technical Skills
Hybrid battery packs and diesel-electric systems
ERP Systems for Routings and Bills of Material management
Data analysis, Excel, Power BI
Proficiency in 3D CAD software and 2D CAD plant layout
Soft Skills: Project management, problem-solving, and communication skills
Physical: Ability to work on the shop floor for extended periods and lift 50 lbs.
