How Youll Contribute

As a Construction Inspector I, you will support the successful delivery of municipal public works projects by preparing & updating CAD drawings, observing construction activities, & collecting field data through surveying & material testing to ensure compliance with approved plans, contract specifications, City ordinances, & applicable standards. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, property owners, & the public to coordinate activities in the public right-of-way, respond to inquiries related to traffic control & construction impacts, & assist with permits, easements, & right-of-entry documentation. Through accurate documentation, clear communication, & attention to detail, you will help promote safe work zones, maintain reliable infrastructure, & ensure projects are completed efficiently & in the best interest of the community.

Essential Duties
  • Prepare & revise CAD drawings for municipal capital improvement projects, including streets, water mains, & sewer systems
  • Perform construction observation & inspection on routine public works projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, & contract documents
  • Conduct surveying activities using total station equipment, including locating property lines, rights-of-way, monuments, elevations, & reference points, & maintain accurate field records
  • Perform material testing (soil, concrete, & related tests) to verify compliance with contract & quality standards
