SHIFT: 2-2-3 split, 6a-6p
General Responsibility: The Technical Coordinator supports the efforts of the injection molding production operations by coordinating and prioritizing the activities of the Technical Assistants who perform the required mold changes and process setups while using safe and efficient work practices and maintaining open communication with all shifts and other departments.
Job Responsibilities:
On a daily basis prepare for shift activity by understanding the production schedule and planning priority list
Conduct pre-shift meeting with Technical Assistants and communicate daily assignments
Train the Technical Assistants how to properly perform mold and frame changes for all various types of tooling on various machine makes and sizes
Assists with starting up machines and making process adjustments when required
Ensures safe work practices and a clean working environment are maintained and hazards are identified, communicated and corrected
Maintain effective communication with team members across all shifts and departments
When required perform and assist with mold changes or pull tools for repair
Conduct monthly safety training and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) training
Input all Mold Change paperwork into the Mold Change Database
Assist with troubleshooting mold setup issues including chilled water lines, compression air and hydraulic lines
Monitor and audit the activities of the Technical Assistants to ensure mold changes are completed correctly and efficiently the first time.
Correspond with the mold shop to coordinate mold repairs in and out of the molding machine
Communicate with the Production Coordinators to ensure Work Orders have been verified before initiating the next mold change
Complete the Let Down Ration (LDR) calculations for color changes and mold changes
Conduct shift pass downs meetings with Technical Coordinators at the beginning and end of each shift to communicate current status, priorities and schedule changes
Take initiative in solving problems and offering suggestions for improvements
Ensure Technical assistants are properly trained and comply with company Lock Out/ Tag Out policies and procedures
Must follow all safety procedures, including wearing required PPE.
Maintain housekeeping standards of the department.
Ensure applicable reports are completed timely and accurately
Fill in and complete responsibilities of the Technical Supervisors when required
Perform other related duties as required and not limited to the tasks listed above
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Exceptional understanding of the injection molding process, molds, machines and auxiliary equipment
High level understanding of various types of molds including single face, stack molds, modules & frames
Good understand of mechanical fasteners and torque requirements
Good understanding and experience operating cranes, chains, and slings
Understanding of chilled water, compressed air and hydraulic hoses and connections
Understand of mold heaters / hot runner controllers and electrical connections
Minimum Qualifications:
Proven commitment to safety and ensuring solid housekeeping initiatives.
Proven ability to lead, direct, control and organize efforts in support of production.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be able to work longer than 12 hour shifts plus days off as needed
Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task
Ability to compile data and make decision in a fast paced environment
Ability to become proficient on Microsoft software programs, Mattec and others as necessary.
Proven ability to apply Lean Manufacturing principles including SMED, Kaizen and continuous improvement
5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment leading and coordinating daily activities and task
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Must complete all OSHA required training and all department specific training.
Lift Truck certification preferred.
Lock Out/ Tag Out training.
Hazardous Material training.
