Position Overview:
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive clerical and clinical support to an assigned nursing unit and physician staff, functioning as part of a customer-focused, service-oriented team aligned with the values of Sutter Health. The role operates in a highly confidential environment and plays a key part in supporting efficient unit operations and quality patient care delivery.
Primary responsibilities include managing clerical functions such as chart management, data collection, forms and documentation management, order and results processing, and facilitating admissions, discharges, and transfers. The position also supports ongoing departmental communication and coordination across interdisciplinary teams.
In addition to administrative duties, this role is trained and/or certified in basic cardiac monitoring and is responsible for continuous observation and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms for patients within the department. The incumbent promptly identifies and reports any changes in patient cardiac status to the appropriate healthcare staff, supporting timely clinical intervention. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the position contributes to routine patient care and monitoring services in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
The role requires the integration of technical competence, clinical knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and care teams. The incumbent exercises sound judgment and applies developed clinical skills to support the patient’s plan of care based on diagnosis and clinical needs.
Preferred qualifications include completion of cardiac monitoring–related training or certifications such as Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, ECG/EKG Interpretation, Telemetry Certification, Arrhythmia Recognition, or EKG Technician Certification.

EDUCATION:
HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 30 days
EKG-EKG Certification
OR CCT (CCI) - Certified Cardiographic Technician
OR CRAT (CCI) - Cardiac Rhythm Analysis Technician
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
1 year of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrated knowledge of basic patient care skills, various medical terminology, views, and equipment.
Ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.
Written and verbal communications skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other personnel.

Advanced knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and related information systems.
Interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Build collaborate relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Pay Range is $26.90 to $33.62 / hour
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
