Job Summary

The Ship Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ship repair, maintenance, and conversion projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining quality standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Manage daily operations for assigned vessel projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact between the shipyard, vessel owners, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, ABS, and other maritime regulations.
  • Quality Control: Monitor work progress and inspect completed tasks to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Budget Management: Track costs, approve work orders, and assist in controlling project expenses.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project milestones.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma required; technical or maritime degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years in ship repair or shipbuilding, with supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of ship systems and repair processes.
