As a Junior Construction Materials Lab Technician , you will play an important role in delivering accurate, high‑quality laboratory testing that supports environmental, materials, and infrastructure projects across the region. You will be part of a collaborative laboratory team that values precision, safety, and innovation while helping shape healthier, more resilient communities.

Your Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials such as soils, aggregates, and concrete in accordance with recognized standards and specifications.

  • Prepare, label, log, and manage samples to ensure accurate tracking and full traceability throughout the testing process.

  • Operate standard construction materials laboratory equipment, including balances, ovens, sieves, and compression testing machines.

  • Accurately record observations and test results using laboratory logs, templates, and digital systems.

  • Follow established health, safety, and quality procedures to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.

  • Support senior technicians and technologists by assisting with test setup, equipment cleaning, and general laboratory organization.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Previous experience in laboratory testing, particularly involving soils, aggregates, and concrete.

  • Comfort working in a laboratory environment with repetitive testing procedures and detailed methodologies.

  • Strong attention to detail and well‑developed organizational skills.

  • Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of routine laboratory duties.

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

  • An interest in building and developing technical skills within construction materials testing.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $51,800 – $68,600

MB & ON: $47,200 – $65,000

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $46,800 – $62,100
