BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for leading the Canadian Sales, Solutions, and Strategic Business Development teams under the Managing Director. The Director drives sales growth, expands vertical markets, and achieves financial objectives by developing and executing business development strategies, managing key accounts, and fostering a high-performance culture. The position may own and manage business units or strategic initiatives, and is accountable for maximizing market potential, profitability, and alignment with corporate goals and vision.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides visionary leadership and enables synergies to District Managers, Strategic and Technical Sales Manager, National Accounts team, and direct Sales team for KAR Industrial in all phases of management and MSC culture throughout their district(s) and/or assigned areas.

  • Ensures maximum market growth through creating a high growth environment and utilizing all MSC market channels.

  • Directs and coaches' teams to improve leadership, strategic planning, and sales performance, foster accountability and reward performance.

  • Consults with senior/executive sales management to develop strategic, long-term sales plans and goals, while ensuring such strategy is aligned with overall MSC's core business strategy, mission statement and culture.

  • Represents Canada on cross functional initiatives at the CSC level. Member of Canada Steering team and presents on strategy initiatives and status of plan to goal.

  • Consults with Managing Director on identifying field sales challenges, cross functional gaps, communication rollout and change management processes of all MSC projects and initiatives.

  • Develops and directs Field Sales and Solutions team within assigned areas to maximize utilization of market potential and ensure the achievement of corporate goals.

  • Uses internal and external resources to analyze and assess region market potential, Sales, creating strategic plans, to maximize profits while minimizing expenses and achieving regional sales/profit goals.

  • Proactively identifies customer needs and drives team to selling appropriate solutions.

  • Develops and cultivates good customer relations via face to face contact. Responds to customers' needs, consistent with MSC standards, culture, and business practices. Creates solutions to customers' needs/problems.

  • Participates/encourages/drives quality assessment, profitability, and improvement activities.

  • Reviews sales reporting to ensure the availability of relevant data to maximize utilization of region on potential and meeting corporate sales goals.

  • Collaborates with the Managing Director to prepare the annual revenue and expense budgets and manages expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgetary constraints. Takes corrective action as needed.

  • Identifies and participates in the development and implementation of new value adds for the company.

  • Develops and tailors' regional strategy in alignment with and to enhance MSC corporate marketing strategy.

  • Ensures all MSC market channels are fully utilized in the region.

  • Acts responsibly as a director level job in a public company.

  • Ensures region functions cross-functionally with other MSC departments and initiatives.

  • Manages the implementation of sales plans to increase market share within the region, while controlling, monitoring, and approving capital investment in new customers and financial acceleration programs to ensure ethical and proper deployment of company finances.

  • Drives interactive communication within the region to ensure proper information is disseminated correctly and feedback and mentoring is a continuous part of the communication within the region.

  • Attracts, retains, and develops associates in sales, solutions and sales management throughout the region.

  • Develops and maintains vendor and external partner relations to enhance MSC's reputation.

  • Drives the MSC culture throughout the region and company to ensure unity of vision and fulfillment of MSC's mission.

  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

  • Performs all duties inherent to the role of MSC Director as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring, terminations, performance review, and development of associates.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent and a minimum of nine years progressively more responsible outside sales experience including a minimum of five years' progressive sales management experience.

SKILLS:

  • Experience selling and managing sales in a business to business environment are required.

  • Excellent planning, budgeting, and forecasting P&L skills are required.

  • Strategic planning experience is required.

  • Excellent recruiting and hiring skills are required.

  • Excellent leadership skills required

  • Excellent change management skills required

  • Basic computer literacy is required.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills are also required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel is required.

Compensation starting at $194,000 - $220,000 depending on candidate location and experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
