Overview

We are looking for a contract VP/Creative Director, Copy with deep B2B experience to join our team and support a sales enablement project for our healthcare client!

In this role, you will lead, drive, and develop conceptually strong, insight-driven copy across integrated B2B campaigns with a focus on healthcare insurance and benefits solutions targeting brokers, consultants, employers, and key decision-makers. You will conceptualize, design, and create copy for sales toolkits, landing pages, presentation decks, sellsheets, and similar sales enablement materials on behalf of our client.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • This is a 40hr/week contract role expected to start in late April and run for a period of 2-3 months. Extension beyond that window or conversion into a full-time role following the completion of the freelance period is possible but not anticipated.

  • This is a hybrid role based out of our client's offices in Minneapolis and will require onsite engagement an average of 1-2 days/week. All candidates should be commutable to the Minneapolis metro and willing to commit to a hybrid schedule.

  • We are not able to support any form of current or future visa sponsorship needs for this role. No third-party staffing agencies, please.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex insurance, benefits, and regulatory information into clear, persuasive, and sales-oriented messaging that drives understanding, differentiation, and action among professional audiences.

  • Craft compelling narratives that support long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles , balancing brand storytelling with lead-generation tactics, product education, and conversion-focused messaging.

  • Develop and oversee copy for a range of broker- and employer-facing materials, including sell sheets, pitch decks, email campaigns, landing pages, thought leadership, and account-based marketing (ABM) programs .

  • Partner closely with art directors, strategists, and compliance teams to ensure all work is on-brand, legally compliant, and aligned with healthcare insurance regulations and guidelines .

  • Contribute to campaign development from concept through execution, bringing a sales-minded, audience-first perspective to both large-scale integrated campaigns and highly targeted outreach.

  • Adapt messaging for key audiences—including brokers, HR leaders, benefits managers, and procurement teams —ensuring relevance, clarity, and a strong value proposition at every touchpoint.

  • Present and defend creative work with confidence, building trust with internal teams and clients by clearly articulating strategic rationale, business impact, and sales effectiveness .

  • Collaborate with strategy, media, analytics, and marketing teams to ensure messaging is data-informed, insight-driven, and optimized for performance across channels.

  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency, ensuring all product details, claims, and supporting information are precise, credible, and effectively communicated .

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressively-responsible professional experience in copywriting, content design, or creative direction within an advertising agency or in-house agency environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in creative writing, journalism, English or a similar field preferred; experience may be substituted.

  • Prior experience partnering directly with clients to confidently present work, articulate rationale for approach in the context of both business and user needs, and workshop and brainstorm iterative changes to ongoing projects.

  • Prior experience leading creative project teams to produce on-time and quality deliverables.

  • Prior experience working in or alongside healthcare, insurance, pharmaceutical, or similar regulated industries preferred.

  • Deep experience supporting sales enablement campaigns including brand-building and persuasive long-and shortform copy for digital, print, and presentation deliverables as well as the development of cross-channel campaigns.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, PowerPoint/Keynote, and similar specialized software packages.

  • Familiarity with prompt-based interaction and commonly used generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Google Gemini, DALL·E, Midjourney) is a plus, especially for tasks like ideation, research, or content generation.

  • Comfort operating with a high level of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.

  • Ability to accept and synthesize feedback quickly while maintaining design integrity.

  • Experience working within a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team on B2B-focused products and services.

  • A natural sense of urgency and an ability to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately within tight deadlines and constantly-evolving project parameters, scope, and goals.

  • Flexible and adaptable with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects with constantly shifting parameters and targets.

  • Highly collaborative but independently capable.

  • Assertive, confident communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and take initiative.

  • Scrappy and entrepreneurial with a drive to evolve and innovate.

  • Awards are a nice bonus, but original breakthrough ideas and meaningful creative problem-solving are even better.

Compensation Range: $100-$150/hour . This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
