Job Description
Fulcrum Consulting, an LRS company, is seeking a Technical Senior Application Specialist / Technical Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with our client in Minneapolis, MN.
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Senior Application Specialist / Technical Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with deep domain expertise in the Banking industry. This role serves as a technical lead and integration-focused BSA, coordinating delivery across multiple internal teams and external partners while contributing to the design and evolution of future-state payment and credit platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong architectural insight, hands-on integration expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology teams within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a Technical Lead and Integration BSA, reviewing solution architecture and partnering with development teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions that drive business value.
Lead and support system integrations with vendors and internal applications.
Design and define API specifications, including API contracts, documentation, and integration patterns.
Provide expertise in:o Real-time integrationso Batch integrationso Event-driven and service-based architectures
Coordinate projects and development efforts across internal teams (e.g., ISL, ESS, Operations, BPM, Salesforce, Mobile) and external vendors and partners.
Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and integration designs.
Provide input into detailed technical design and application development using existing and emerging technologies.
Support the design and evolution of future payment rails and platforms, including payment hubs and next-generation capabilities.
Apply seasoned technical expertise to solve complex problems across cross-functional initiatives within regulated banking environments.
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate within a Scrum team environment.
Required Qualifications:
Strong experience in either: Money Movement / Payments (Bill Pay, ACH, Wires, Check Deposits), or Credit platforms (Credit Cards, Mortgage, CAA, or related onboarding systems)
Proven experience as a Technical BSA or Technical Application Specialist with strong system integration expertise.
Hands-on experience designing and documenting:o APIs (RESTful services preferred)o Real-time integrationso Batch processing integrations
Solid understanding of:o Technology architectureo APIs and modern integration patternso Microservices and distributed systems concepts
Experience working within a banking or financial services environment (preferred).
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and engineering teams.
Demonstrated strength in solution design, architecture, and analytical problem-solving.Must-Have Skills
Strong design and architecture acumen
Deep understanding of system integrations (internal and vendor-based)
API design and specification creation expertise
Experience with real-time and batch processing models
High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
Collaborative mindset with a proactive, “can-do” attitudeNice-to-Have Skills
Knowledge of Java technology stack (e.g., Spring Boot)
Experience designing and building APIs
Exposure to payment hubs or next-generation payment platforms
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures
The base hourly range for this contract position is $65-95 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
