How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
The Supervisor, Public Facilities Maintenance position will supervise a group of Public Facilities Workers (approximately 20-30) and oversee maintenance-related expenditures for all of Metro Transit's public facilities within the seven-county metropolitan area in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Public Facilities include all bus, light rail, and commuter rail facilities through which the public may pass. The qualified supervisor will exercise management responsibilities for the proper cleaning and upkeep of public buildings, oversee purchasing of materials and labor, and supervise deployment of personnel as appropriate to maintain our public facilities.
Please note this recruitment is for multiple positions and the shifts are listed below:
Friday through Monday from 6:00am to 4:00pm
Monday through Friday from 4:00am to 12:00pm
Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:00pm
This position will establish an eight (8) month eligibility pool for current and future openings. This position has multiple openings and will remain open until all positions are filled.
What you would do in this job
Supervise and provide work direction to ATU Facility Maintenance staff working with varied duties.
Coordinate and manage the cleaning, upkeep and snow removal of supplies used for the maintenance of all facilities that fall within the responsibilities of this position. Plan and budget additional and/or replacement equipment and vehicles.
Communicate within the department, outside the department, outside the company with contractors and vendors (etc.), regarding facility operations and maintenance of facilities. Maintain close working relationships with other governmental agencies (e.g., City, County, and State) and private developers or contractors with respect to maintenance and repair of facilities.
Monitor and submit reports of labor and materials used to repair facilities changed by accidents or vandalism as requested by local and transit authorities or the Risk Management Department.
Coordinate the purchase of goods and contracted services with the Purchasing Department through the complete procurement process. Investigate new technical equipment before purchasing products and/or contracting services.
Work with Facilities personnel to analyze, prioritize, and resolve operational issues, customer and staff complaints, and maintenance issues in the most effective manner. Monitor all maintenance projects for all Public Facilities including parking ramps, rail stations, transit centers, and bus shelters. Schedule or coordinate the scheduling of those activities as appropriate.
Areas of responsibilities will overlap but may be assigned to Rail or Bus Maintenance as your primary responsibility.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Any of the following combinations of experience in industrial cleaning and facility maintenance AND completed education in industrial cleaning, facility maintenance or related field with one (1) year of supervisory, project management or proven leadership experience.
High school diploma or GED AND eight (8) years of experience,
Associate's degree or technical two-year certification AND six (6) years of experience
Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years of experience.
License Requirements:
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Metropolitan Council Employees Only: Successful completion of any one of the following four Metropolitan Council Leadership/Supervisory training programs will substitute for lead/supervisory experience. You must attach your certificate(s) as proof of completion of the program to your application. Only completion of one of the three programs listed below will substitute credit (6 months or 1 year) for lead/supervisory experience.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or clients providing direction and supervision to a large widely dispersed group of independently operating workers.

Exposed to extreme outdoor weather conditions. Requires conducting field inspections and off-site duties as required. Confined space entry at industry and various facilities is required. Position has exposure to working near moving parts, fumes airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions and vibration. Some positions may require travel between primary work site to other sites. Position may require lifting to 25 pounds.
