BLUE SHIELD OF CALIFORNIA Platform Engineer, Sr. Principal in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Your Role The Developer and Employee Experience team is responsible for the creation of the standards and automation pipelines that enable our partnering IT teams to build, release, and manage their systems. We are setting the path for how we'll migrate to the Cloud and ensure that we are guiding the movement to a more modern Agentic AI driven DevOps operating model. The Sr. Principal Platform Engineer will report to the Vice President of Developer & Employee Experience. In this role you will drive the creation and maintenance of enterprise technology capabilities and technology patterns to enable our teams to move to the Cloud. You will also define integrated roadmaps that guide our strategic investments to support our enterprise initiatives for Blue Shield of California. Your Knowledge and Experience Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum 12 years of relevant IT experience with wide array of cloud services across Azure, GCP, or AWS. Minimum of 5+ years of architecture practice experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language (Python, C#, Java, etc.) strongly preferred. Expert architect who champions and continuously drives the advancement of the architecture operating model, governance, processes, policies, standards, and framework for the Enterprise Architecture capability Creates, refines and puts into practice repeatable architecture frameworks and processes to enable complex cross-functional initiatives related to major business initiatives Provides vision and strategic direction for one or more architecture domains (business, information, application and technology) Develop and maintain strategies and solutions for the enterprise in collaboration with executive leadership across the business and IT Possesses the excellent interpersonal skills necessary to articulate the value of a strong enterprise architecture function to critical business stakeholders Advanced knowledge and experience with cloud technologies, defining technology standards and implementation roadmaps for one or more of the following: Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services. In-depth knowledge of implementing and leveraging AI, Agentic AI and LLM models strongly preferred. In depth knowledge of multiple cloud hosting providers, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, Kubernetes experience strongly desired External hires must pass a background check/drug screen.
