Description
The Medical Front Desk Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional patient experience. This individual is responsible for front desk operations including patient check‑in/check‑out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and benefits accuracy
Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at time of service
Answer incoming phone calls and route messages appropriately
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records in the EMR/EHR system
Scan, upload, and manage patient documentation
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy standards
Coordinate with clinical staff to support efficient patient flow
Resolve patient questions related to appointments, paperwork, or billing at a basic level
Perform general administrative tasks as needed to support the clinic
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or education in healthcare is a plus
1+ years of experience in a medical front desk, patient access, or healthcare administrative role preferred
Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare workflows
Experience verifying insurance and collecting patient payments
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office
Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast‑paced clinical environment
High attention to detail and professionalism
