Job Overview
Fairview is looking for a Histology Technician for a temporary assignment from May 2026 to October 2026 at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank (https://www.mhealthfairview.org/locations/M-Health-Fairview-University-of-Minnesota-Medical-Center---West-Bank-east) .

This opportunity is:
Fulltime (1.0FTE or 80hours/2weeks)
Day shift position with 8-hour shifts.
At Fairview our Histology Technicians work as part of a diverse team to produce high quality slides for microscopic evaluation. Our team members rotate through a variety of responsibilities including embedding, microtomy, routine hematoxylin and eosin staining, special stains, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and whole slide imaging. We serve a diverse patient population including pediatric and transplant patients and work with a variety of tissue types including kidney, liver, prostate, and G.I. biopsies, bone marrows, cell blocks, dermatology specimens, and routine surgical cases. Required Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited college/university in a related laboratory field including the related lab practicum or equivalent routes as specified in CLIA’88.
Associate degree including completion of a histotechnician program from an accredited college/university. • Diploma or transcript must be provided. or
Completion of 60 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry and completion of a histotechnology training program. • Transcript must be provided. or
Completion of a 50-week U.S. military histotechnician training course and an associate degree or 60 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry. • Transcript must be provided.
2 years clinical experience in a histopathology laboratory is required if applicant has not completed a NAACLS accredited histotechnician or histotechnologist program or U.S. military histotechnician training course.
Applicant should possess or be eligible to receive appropriate Health and Human Services (HHS) approved laboratory certification. • ASCP - HT (Histotechnician) within 1 Year
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year experience as a histology technician in an integrated healthcare environment.
