Job Title: Engineering Technician
Job Description
As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for operating test benches in the R&D engineering lab. You will conduct various tests including structural, integrity, end of life, and efficiency tests, while ensuring the mechanical upkeep and calibration of the test equipment. Your role will involve participating in the development of new technologies and products, or modifying existing products to meet technical requirements within time and cost constraints.
Responsibilities
Operate and troubleshoot test apparatus in the R&D engineering lab.
Connect filters to test benches and replace pumps and seals.
Start tests and document results accurately.
Consult with test requestors and lab managers to determine appropriate testing methods.
Set up and conduct performance tests independently, following established procedures.
Adapt procedures and techniques to meet complex testing requirements with assistance.
Prepare accurate test data for interpretation and analysis.
Identify and communicate test equipment issues to sr technicians or supervisors.
Operate and maintain lab equipment for accurate and efficient testing.
Assist with equipment calibration and perform basic test bench maintenance under supervision.
Keep lab manager informed of testing activities and challenges.
Perform operational lab duties as required.
Meet established deadlines effectively.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Essential Skills
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience as a technician or in a related field is preferred.
Working knowledge of test equipment and test standards.
Proficient in computer literacy (MS Office).
Demonstrated mechanical/technical aptitude.
Ability to understand cause-and-effect relationships in automated control systems.
Fundamental understanding of measurement & control systems and calibration practices.
Adaptability to changing priorities and receiving direction from supervisors and team members.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to different audiences.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness in data and reports.
Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Ability to work collaboratively towards common goals.
Professional conduct at all times.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in R&D, mechanical testing, and mechanical aptitude.
Knowledge of hydraulics, hydraulic assembly, valves, automotive manufacturing.
Experience with Microsoft Excel.
Work Environment
The work environment is a General Liquid Lab with a first or mid-day shift. The lab tests the performance and efficiency of filters under varying conditions such as temperature, pressure, and humidity. Training for second shift roles may begin on the first shift (Mon-Fri 6:30 AM to 3 PM) before transitioning to the second shift. The dress code is engineering casual (collared shirt), and PPE including safety shoes (steel toe) and safety glasses are required in the lab.

This is a Contract position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
