JOB REQUIREMENTS: The CNC Machinist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of CNC machining and manufacturing within their assigned area, including Mazatrol programming, machine setup, and quality control. This role involves directing machinist personnel, managing production schedules, ensuring efficient and precise machining operations, and overseeing a safe, productive work environment. The CNC Machinist sets a positive example in communication, technical expertise, and work ethic to facilitate timely production and delivery of Sielaff Corporation products. Responsibilities Program CNC machines using Mazatrol or conversational programming systems Develop, edit, and optimize programs to improve cycle times and efficiency Perform full machine setups including tooling selection, fixturing, offsets, and first-run validation Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and job travelers Determine machining sequence, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machine issues independently Perform advanced machine adjustments to maintain tolerances and part quality Conduct first-piece inspections and validate production runs Train and mentor CNC operators and machinists on programming and setup techniques Serve as a technical resource for the department Support workflow planning and job prioritization Identify process improvements to reduce scrap and downtime Maintain accurate documentation of programs and revisions Perform preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is operating properly Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturability Promote safe work practices and enforce company standards Adhere to and promote the Sielaff Corporation Values and Standards of Conduct The responsibilities outlined in this position description are a guideline for the general duties of the position and are not exhaustive of all duties inherent in the job. Qualifications 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment Demonstrated experience with Mazatrol or conversational programming systems (required) Technical or associate\'s degree in machining/related field or programming field highly desired A Strong understanding of CNC setup, tooling, and machine calibration Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge preferred Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve machining issues Experience mentoring or leading other machinists preferred Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions Critical thinking and problem-solving Highly organized; systems- and process-focused Ability to multi-task and move multiple projects forward simultaneously Physical Requirements of the Job Physical requirements of the job are classified as light to medium. Physical demand requirements are more than light work.
