The Opportunity
FCA is excited to announce an opportunity for the position of Student Intern. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a Student Intern to support our Prevention Coalitions (Aging Safely, Roosevelt, & Hempstead) and OASAS Prevention Program.
The Prevention Coalitions & Program Intern will work closely with the Program Coordinators of the 3 Prevention Coalitions & Program Supervisor of the Prevention Program, as well as the Director of Prevention and Community Engagement.
Assist our 3 prevention coalitions and prevention program in organization & implementation of Community Outreach Events/trainings, supporting their media campaign design/development and distribution as well as our youth programs.
Assist prevention program with individual & group client assessments & sessions.
Assist prevention program with substance use prevention community group & community education facilitation.
Attend monthly coalition meetings and aid in the preparation of meeting minutes to be sent out to coalition members in a timely manner.
Attend community/outreach events to engage/educate community members in raising awareness and prevention of substance misuse.
Assist in prevention coalition & program data collection.
Assist Program Coordinator in managing the Safe Space Gathering meetings
Aid in setup/takedown of programs & Handling food orders for the youth.
Monitor sign-in/sign-out sheet, ensuring accurate attendance totals.
Helping to manage disruptive behavior in a way that will not interrupt the flow of the meeting for others
Assist with social media engagement by helping produce informational content for social channels as assigned (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Posting informational/community event flyers to social channels as assigned
Produce media content that highlights programming being done by the coalition and YHPC (e.g. "shoutout" infographics)
Monitoring social media web analytics monthly (e.g. page views, new followers)
Qualifications
MSW Generalist (1st year): 15 hours/week or MSW Specialized (2nd year): 15 hours/week.
Relevant knowledge and/or experience working with high need Nassau and/or Suffolk communities.
Excellent verbal and written skills-including public speaking skills.
Proficient computer skills with MS Office.
Valid and clean driver's license.
Schedule:
Flexible-M/F based on program/school needs. Some night and weekend hours, as needed.
