Scope of Position
The Project Cargo Services manager works to develop business opportunities by performing daily tasks in operations and pricing, working with the Sales team to develop new business opportunities and working with the local management team to achieve company goals and objectives for the Project Cargo Services group. Expeditors Project Cargo Services business consists of both ad hoc heavy and over dimensional cargo and project logistics opportunities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
This role encompasses dual responsibilities: first, overseeing all aspects of pricing, management, and operational supervision for project cargo shipments; second, supporting the sales team by establishing credibility and expertise related to project cargo clients, identifying opportunities, and promoting revenue growth for project cargo initiatives in Japan.
Responsibilities will include the following for operational task:
Project cargo shipment pricing and management for Japan
Locate reputable service providers capable of delivering efficient and professional solutions for managing OOG cargo.
Collaborate with service provider managers to facilitate the onboarding and ongoing support of approved service providers, ensuring effective management and growth of project cargo opportunities.
Work with various products to facilitate and manage shipments
Planning and execution of shipments managed within the project cargo team
Ensure compliance with all internal procedures as well as all applicable government regulations
Management of commercial & transportation documents
Tracking & tracing of shipments
Export document compliance
Onsite support in supervision of loading, packing, and coordination of project moves
Accurate and timely billing
Customer service & relations
Service provider relations
Overseas communications
Self-development - 52 hours of required training per year
Business Development Responsibilities:
General business development of Project Cargo Services accounts that are based within the geographic area of responsibility.
Support the education of Expeditors sales and local product management teams with regards to Project Cargo Services offerings within the region.
Support the sales and marketing strategies within the region:
Attend sales calls both independently and with existing Expeditors sales staff.
Attend branch sales meetings within the region.
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to define, develop and document business processes and procedures
Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to relate to customers and employees at all levels.
Experience with MS Windows, MS Office Products
Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
3 + years’ experience in Project cargo management
3 + years in handling overweight, over dimensional loads via barge, rail, land, air & ocean
Management skills
Knowledge in Export and import regulations
Experience in ocean and air charter operations
Strong project cargo logistics management skills
Confident communication skills, both oral and written
Possess a strong sense of customer service and adaptability
Ability to handle daily tasks and projects independently
