Supervisor - Youth Shelter Care Job Code:2026-YS-002 Location:Milwaukee Department:Shelter Care FT/PT Status:Full Time Job Responsibilities: Job Summary Supervise the staff and operations of the WCS Youth ShelterCare Program at Rashid House in conjunction with the Program Director and Assistant Program Director. Attend Shelter Care leadership meetings and collaborate with the VP when required. Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures. Serve as a mentor and positive role model for staff and youth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Review and sign off on all agency policies and procedures in Power DMS. And adhere to all agency policies and procedures. 2. Attend all required trainings and meetings required by your supervisor, the APD and Program Director (PD), and the Vice president and Milwaukee County. 3. Ensure that all policies of the program are being followed by all Youth Care Workers, which requires a high level of familiarity with the policies and procedures manual and expectations of both Milwaukee County and the State of Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. 4. Ensure staff actively engage with each other on each shift, check in with each other each time they come and go from the shelter, that they are all present for shift exchange, and use the whiteboard and fobs every time they come and go from the shelter. 5. Provide consistent and reflective supervision and leadership of all staff, using active listening and conflict management skills. 6. Maintain consistent and reliable communication with Milwaukee County staff, youth, approved family members, program and agency staff, schools, service providers, and other parties. 7. Maintain strict confidentiality within all written and verbal communications in compliance with program and agency policies and the law. 8. Interact with youth in a positive and therapeutic manner according to policy, procedure, training, and agency values. 9. Serve as positive role model and mentor for youth placed in shelter care. 10. Always provide active supervision of youth within required staffing ratios (three staff on each shift Monday-Friday and weekends) and ensure that Youth Care Workers and Lead Youth Care Workers are engaging in active supervision of youth. 11. Redirect staff behavior that is not contributing to a positive work environment, document all coaching sessions in email and copy the APD and PD in accordance with WCS policy and required if behavior requires corrective action which includes Shelter leadership, the Vice President, and HR. 12.
