WWBIC Grant Accountant- Hybrid in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Maintain accurate accounting records for all grant-funded programs and ensure proper coding of revenues and expenditures within the general ledger. Track restricted grant funds and ensure expenditures are allowable, allocable, and reasonable in accordance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200). Manage the financial components of the grant lifecycle including award setup, budget entry, financial monitoring, reporting, and grant closeout. Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reimbursement requests and federal drawdowns through approved federal payment systems (e.g., PMS or ASAP). Prepare and submit grant billings, expenditure reports, and financial reports to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Support compliance and financial reporting requirements related to CDFI Fund awards including financial reports, performance reports, and required supporting documentation. Monitor grant budgets to ensure spending aligns with approved budgets and grant agreements. Perform monthly reconciliations of grant accounts and maintain supporting documentation for all grant transactions. Maintain organized grant files including agreements, budgets, amendments, reporting schedules, and compliance documentation. Collaborate with program and development staff to develop grant budgets and monitor financial performance of grant-funded programs. Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, GAAP, and specific grantor requirements. Ensure compliance with federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) including cost principles, internal controls, and documentation standards. Support preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for annual audits and Single Audits when applicable. Assist with audit preparation including gathering documentation for financial audits, benefit audits, Single Audits, and grant monitoring reviews. Ensure accurate allocation of shared costs across funding sources using approved cost allocation methodologies. Review payroll allocations for grant-funded staff and ensure accurate Time and Effort reporting consistent with funding requirements. Identify potential compliance issues and work with finance leadership to resolve them proactively. Assist with development and improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and grant management policies. Provide financial guidance to program managers regarding allowable costs, budget tracking, and reporting deadlines. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to grant activity. Assist the Controller and CFO with grant financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting. Support WWBIC\'s mission by working collaboratively across departments and performing other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position typically does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide financial guidance and training to program staff related to grant compliance, financial reporting, grant budgets, and reporting requirements. Minimum of 35 years of accounting experience, preferably within nonprofit or grant-funded organizations. Experience with federal grant compliance and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200). Experience managing federal grant drawdowns through systems such as PMS (Payment Management System) or ASAP. Familiarity with CDFI Fund programs and reporting requirements preferred. Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, restricted funds, and grant reporting requirements. Experience preparing grant reimbursement requests and financial reports for government and private funders. Experience supporting financial audits, grant monitoring reviews, or Single Audits. Strong proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
