Job Title: CNC Operator
Job Description
The CNC Operator sets up and runs CNC equipment according to programmed instructions, ensuring parts meet precise specifications and quality standards. This role involves monitoring machine performance, performing in-process inspections with precision measuring tools, and making necessary adjustments to maintain consistent, accurate production in a clean, quiet, and climate-controlled environment.
Responsibilities
Operate CNC machines according to established programs and instructions.
Monitor the CNC machining process continuously and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers to verify part dimensions and quality.
Load raw materials onto the CNC machine safely and efficiently.
Select and install the correct cutting tools and fixtures based on part design and job requirements.
Align and clamp workpieces accurately to ensure proper machining and dimensional accuracy.
Perform machine calibration and testing before production to confirm proper operation.
Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure parts are machined to specification.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures while operating equipment.
Communicate any equipment issues, quality concerns, or process deviations to the appropriate personnel.
Essential Skills
Proven ability to operate CNC machines in a production environment.
Experience monitoring CNC machining processes and making on-the-fly adjustments to maintain quality.
Ability to perform quality checks during production using precision measuring tools such as calipers.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.
Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.
Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a machining or manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with fixtures, cutting tools, and their appropriate applications.
Comfort working with precision measuring instruments beyond calipers, such as micrometers or gauges.
Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving basic machining or quality issues.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.
Reliability in attendance and punctuality, especially for overnight shift work.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled, well-lit, and very quiet shop, providing a comfortable and focused setting for precision machining work. Work is performed on CNC equipment and involves frequent use of precision measuring tools such as calipers. The position follows a 3rd shift schedule from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday, with an associated shift premium. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, supporting consistent, high-quality production throughout the overnight shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
