Understand program format, work from operational data defining and coding tooling, fixturing and machine arrangements. Arrange, mount and secure tooling. Mount, align and secure holding fixtures, or locate, support and secure work piece in absence of fixturing. Set stops, calibrate fixturing to appropriate reference points. Manually cycle machine through operation sequence to check fixture and work positions, tooling, clearance, speeds, feeds, etc. Adjust machine or console to correct deviations from program specifications. Recognize, report and correct errors. Recommend tooling applications and operational sequence to assist in developing practical programming for new and unusual machining requirements. May set-up for and instruct machine operators of a lower classification, diagnose operating difficulties and make adjustments. Work from detailed and involved part drawings and specifications. Use a variety of precision measuring instruments. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
