Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Complies with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), Safety and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations under federal, state, and local laws for shipping and handling requirements.
  2. Ensure a safe work environment that is consistent with company safety and health standards.
  3. Maintain compliance with transportation policies and procedures.
  4. Proactively monitor and manage inbound/outbound shipments of products to our stores.
  5. Monitor and schedule tasks to ensure they are efficiently completed.
  6. Achieves financial objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  7. Provide training to transportation associates to maintain production levels and promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  8. Facilitate communication within and amongst management, departments, Stores, Store Support Center, and Supply Chain.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. This position directly supervises drivers, jockeys, and office staff.
  2. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws.
  3. The incumbent determines work order based upon demand and the need of product.
  4. Responsibilities include training, directing, appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  2. Five (5) years' prior experience as a supervisor in a transportation or warehouse environment.
  3. Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration is preferred
  4. Ability to lead and develop talent; prepare them for potential advancement.
  5. Ability to effectively partner with internal DC departments and be flexible to changing business needs and react to those needs in a professional positive manner.
  6. Strong organizational, time management and communication skills required.
