Classroom Assistant Floater

This full time position will serve as a floater para-professional for other CSIU Special Education programs in order to cover the absence of the primary staff based on daily program needs. This position will work with grades K-12 students enrolled in autistic support, emotional support, life skills support, and multiple disabilities support classrooms with the CSIU region. The anticipated start date is August 4, 2026.

Hourly wage: $14.00 - 20.50 per hour for a non-exempt position following a 185 days per school year schedule. Benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance; retirement options including Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and life insurance options.

Education and skills required include:

1. A high school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED). Additionally, the attainment of the Para-Educator Competency Assessment Checklist is required within the first 90 school days of employment.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to accept great cultural diversity, flexibility to accommodate a changing caseload.
4. Ability to cope with stressful situations and a professional attitude are required.
5. Maintain confidentiality regarding education programs, students and parents at all times

adhering to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements to protect staff and student data

1. Must have ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
2. Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.
3. Must be flexible in adapting to student needs and various teaching styles.
