Smurfit Westrock Maintenance Supervisor in Milton, Ontario

Job Opportunity

As a Maintenance Supervisor you will oversee maintenance operations using precision and preventative maintenance to maximize plant and production equipment uptime. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will help coach and guide the maintenance staff to ensure adherence to preferred maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and safety.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

  • Assist and provide direction for maintenance staff with equipment troubleshooting to mitigate downtime

  • Monitor and approve inventory orders to control storeroom spending according to planned budget

  • Ensure compliance and proper use of parts and equipment according to preferred maintenance practices

  • Oversee staff compliance with corporation, division, plant safety and environmental rules and procedures

  • Lead development and implementation of continuous process improvement of reliability plans in the plant

  • Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals by effectively leading staff to align objectives

  • Lead safety efforts by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings, and coordinating maintenance related safety activities

  • Provide leadership and coaching in safety, training, and work allocation to uphold the standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees

  • Collaborate with operations and mechanical leaders to plan, schedule, and execute daily and break-in work and to increase measured reliability metrics

  • Weekend and shift work may be required to support business and operational needs

What you need to succeed:

  • 2-year technical degree in Maintenance related discipline or related work experience

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 3-5 years Supervisory experience

  • Working knowledge of maintenance techniques and equipment (i.e., pumps, valves, motors, gear boxes)

  • Safety mindset with thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures

  • Initiative to problem solve and take independent action

  • Effective communication with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization

  • Able to exhibit a \u2018can-do\u2019 approach and inspire others to excel

  • Must be organized with great time management to manage multiple priorities

This posting is for an existing job vacancy. The salary range for this position is $87,750 - $146,250. The range listed is the expected pay for roles in Ontario, Canada.
