Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing operations functions, preventive and corrective maintenance as applicable to job function to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment will work under the direction of site management.
This position is responsible for the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant for the Gas fleet. Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift
Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and systems.
Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management.
Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
Proficient in operating material handling equipment
Develops and implements plant operating procedures
Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems
May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees
Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE
Operate Gas turbines, steam turbines and all associated equipment safely and efficiently
Work with team members to meet the facilities established safety, environmental, operating and maintenance goals and objectives
Successfully complete all required safety and environmental training and participate in the facilities Safety Committee
Successfully complete the Operations and Maintenance Technician Qualification Program
Perform operational activities required to support start-up, shutdown, and normal operation of plant equipment and systems
Report equipment conditions or other facility anomalies that could affect the plant status to the Operations Manager and/or Maintenance Manager
Make entries in the operating logs, environmental records, and other administrative documentation needed to support the operation and maintenance of the facility
Complete required electrical switching and lockout-tagout of plant equipment and systems in accordance with approved facilities lockout procedures, industry guidelines and prudent operations and maintenance practices
Participate in plant housekeeping program and completes clean-up activities required to maintain the desired level of plant cleanliness
These activities shall include but not be limited to cleaning, painting, and trash removal from the various areas of the facility
Perform assigned preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency maintenance and inspection of plant mechanical and electrical equipment
Respond to abnormal operating situations in a safe and environmentally conscious manner
Complete routine cycle chemistry testing and make the necessary adjustments needed to operate within the established facility operating parameters
Complete all tasks and instructions as requested by the Production Manager and/or Maintenance Manager.
Must be able to read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts and variations in color
Perform required field adjustments of plant equipment and systems to ensure that equipment operates in accordance with established operating parameters and environmental permit requirements
Comply with all required safety requirements to identify and make corrective actions necessary to eliminate potential safety hazards in the facility
Operate station vehicles such as forklifts, trucks, man lifts and overhead cranes
Monitor the daily consumption of bulk chemicals and consumables required to operate the facility to ensure proper inventories to support anticipated operating profiles. Initiate timely re-ordering of chemicals and consumables to eliminate impacts to plant operations
Utilize the facilities computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document and track the maintenance request / work orders and actions completed on plant equipment and systems
Complete periodic reviews of plant piping and instrument diagrams, electrical one-line, electrical schematics, and other technical documentation to confirm the accuracy of the documentation and increase knowledge of plant equipment and systems
Read and understand operating procedure, control logic diagrams, P&ID‘s and other technical material pertinent to power plant operation and maintenance
Contribute to the development, review and issuance of required plant operating procedures and training programs
Complete periodic reviews of the facilities environmental permits to ensure familiarity with the established operating limits and reporting requirements for each of the operating permits
Must be able to perform additional duties as assigned by plant management
All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate's email address provided during the application process.
**Level of position will be determined by applicable skills/experience.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
•4 -6 years related experience
•Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 within primary skill for position job performance measure
•Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent
•Demonstrate computer based skills
•Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills
•Independent knowledge of troubleshooting
Key Metrics:
•Satisfactory completion of Tier 3 training and qualification requirements
•Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge.
