Kodiak Gas Services Quality Control Technician in Midland, Texas

Position Summary

Senior level position responsible for performing quality, detailed inspections on compressor packages. Assists in repairs of units with assigned technician and provides feedback for the development of the location’s operating policies, and material forecasts for assigned units. Has advanced diagnostic and repair skills. Can use critical thinking to understand cause and effect on unit packages.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs, coordinates, and performs the job activities in a manner consistent with the Company’s goals and objectives.Takes initiative and fulfills dutiesaccording to Kodiak procedures.

  • Provides onsite services including technical analysis and specific recommendations related tooperation of the unit.

  • Ensures compliance and product quality assurance of systems.

  • Develops and implements quality control initiatives.

  • Performs activities such as reviewing, investigating, and resolving discrepancies.

  • Audit equipment to ensure accuracy.

  • Completes organized examination or formal evaluation exercises.

  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and standards.

  • Participation in all HSE related activities.

  • Cultivates, builds, and maintainscustomer relationships.

  • Takes all corrective actions necessary to ensure guaranteed 98% or better mechanical availability of equipment.

  • Completes the proper reports and actions requiredby the area’s operating proceduresandpolicies

  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Education , Experience and Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent- Required

  • OEM, Trade Schooland/or5plus yearscomparable work experience inGas Compression- Preferred

  • Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program, plus (a minimum of)3years ina Seniorlevel Field Technician role

  • Deep knowledge in gas processes, mechanic of motor compressors (Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar, etc.)

  • Minimum of10yearsincompression process, production, and equipment related experience and/or training

  • Advancedelectrical troubleshootingskills

  • Main competencies: teamwork, effective communication(written and oral), analyticalcapability, strongmechanical aptitude,self-motivation and self-control, initiative,planning,and problem solving

  • Possessadvancedand completeknowledge of compressor packages, including all componentsand systems

  • Expertknowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations

  • StrongMicrosoft Office Suiteskills(Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Advanced knowledge of Emit panels, Ariel Performance Program, CAT ET program,Altronic, Murphy, Allen Bradley

Certification s

  • ValidDriver’sLicense, with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within the acceptable parameters of Company Policyrequired

  • CAT Certifications preferred

  • Waukesha Certification preferred

  • Ariel Certificationpreferred

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Physical Demands

  • Requires operation of heavy equipment

  • Requires employee to stand for75% of the time

  • Requires employee to sit for 25% of the time

  • Requires travel up to 75% of the time

  • Requires employee to climb ladders or stairswhileinspectingorrepairingequipment, and must be able to maintain balance on stairs and/or ladders without assistance

  • Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices

  • Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds, infrequent lifting of > 50 lbs.

  • High noise environment (>85dbA) will occur with ear protection

  • Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals

  • Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.

  • Requires moving and maintaining self invarious positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

  • Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing,hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots

  • Requires an employee to frequently type and usea computerand other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone,etc.
