REQUIRED: Applicants must hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in the following area: Emotional Impairments (SE).
SALARY RANGE: $47,547-$102,907 (salary protection available)
JOB SUMMARY: Instruct students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per the current Midland City Education Association (MCEA) Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent
- Must possess valid teaching certification with appropriate endorsement for subject area.
- Properly Placed (previously HQ) with required endorsements as determined by district assignment
- Additional education/training in specific area may be required depending on assignment
- Ability to withstand the physical and mental rigors of teaching
- Demonstrated Technical Skills
- Computer knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, and other basic computer skills
- Familiarity with student information systems
- Possess computer competency and familiarity with emerging technologies
- Possess well-developed problem-solving skills
- Possess sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters
- Possess working knowledge of best practice strategies; able to make research-based decisions
- Ability to collect and analyze data to assess student achievement
- Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff members, and students, verbally and in writing
- Ability to provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment

QUALIFICATIONS SPECIFIC TO SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHING POSITIONS:
- Working knowledge of IEP and Special Education documentations
- Ability to manage special education caseload, including conducting IEPT meetings
- Ability to complete IEP forms and monitor compliance in accordance with IDEA and MARSE rules
- Ability to collect and analyze data to assess student achievement
- Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students and make accommodations based on individual student data
- Ability to identify and incorporate strategic and intensive interventions as dictated by individual student data
- Ability to work with special needs students in an inclusive setting
