Job Title: Journeyman or Master Service Electrician

Job Description

This role provides prompt, professional electrical service to commercial and industrial customers while ensuring all work complies with current codes and safety regulations. You will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, diagnose and repair issues, and coordinate closely with internal teams and customers to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a current Journeyman or Master Electrician license in compliance with state and governmental regulations.

  • Provide customers with prompt, professional, and courteous electrical service, including service and troubleshooting work.

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using appropriate hand tools and power tools.

  • Test electrical systems and circuits, including continuity checks, using testing devices to verify compatibility, functionality, and safety.

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute electrical installations and repairs.

  • Perform conduit bending, cable pulling, and wiring for commercial and industrial applications, including high-voltage systems up to 480V.

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial controls and electrical service equipment as required.

  • Submit complete and accurate work orders with all required information to the office each day.

  • Turn in all packing slips, time cards, and receipts to the office daily in an organized and timely manner.

  • Maintain proper inventory levels on the service truck, keeping tools, materials, and parts organized and ready for use.

  • Operate and maintain the company truck and tooling in a professional manner, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning.

  • Coordinate and schedule work with Account or Project Managers, including planning tasks and aligning with project timelines.

  • Coordinate materials, manpower, and equipment needed to complete assigned tasks efficiently.

  • Maintain safe working conditions on all job sites and support enforcement of safety regulations and best practices.

  • Purchase materials and equipment as needed to perform assigned duties in line with company processes.

  • Contact customers to clarify requirements, confirm details, and coordinate scheduling and access to job sites.

  • Plan and execute assigned tasks independently or as part of a team, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.

  • Collaborate effectively with teams ranging from 2 to 20 people on new builds and service projects.

  • Support new build projects and service work at industrial and commercial sites across the assigned region.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of electrician experience in commercial or industrial environments, including service and troubleshooting.

  • Current and valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license issued by the State of Michigan.

  • Current and valid driver’s license with the ability to provide reliable transportation to job sites and drive a company vehicle.

  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical systems, at least up to 480V.

  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting for service work in commercial and industrial settings.

  • Experience with industrial controls installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Skilled in conduit bending, cable pulling, and installation of electrical wiring and conduit systems.

  • Experience with electrical service work, including maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team of 2–20 people on various job sites.

  • Customer service experience for service-focused electrical work, including direct interaction with clients.

  • Competence using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing devices safely and effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience leading crews or running electrical jobs in the field.

  • Previous foreman experience overseeing commercial or industrial electrical projects.

  • Additional controls experience beyond basic industrial controls work.

  • Experience in electrical maintenance for industrial and commercial facilities.

  • Familiarity with residential electrical work is acceptable when combined with strong commercial or industrial experience.

  • Strong organizational skills for managing truck inventory, documentation, and daily paperwork.

  • Ability to coordinate materials, manpower, and equipment to meet project schedules and customer expectations.

Work Environment

This position supports new build projects and service work at industrial and commercial sites across multiple Michigan locations, including areas such as Midland, Bay City, Saginaw, Flint, Lansing, Clare, Hemlock, and Beaverton. The typical schedule follows a first-shift structure, usually from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an expected workload of approximately 40–50 hours per week. Depending on project needs, schedules may vary and can include patterns such as five 8-hour shifts with occasional Saturday work, five 10-hour shifts, or four 10-hour shifts with Fridays off. Work takes place on active construction sites and operating industrial or commercial facilities, involving the use of standard electrical tools, power tools, testing devices, and company vehicles. The environment requires adherence to strict safety practices, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and readiness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midland, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
