Diesel Mechanic Assistant / Helper – Heavy Equipment

Job Description
We’re looking for a dependable, motivated Diesel Mechanic Assistant to help support our diesel and heavy equipment mechanics working on dump trucks and tractor/semi trailers . This is a hands‑on role in a construction and trucking environment and a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a long‑term career in diesel mechanics .
You’ll work directly with experienced mechanics, learn the trade, and get steady, year‑round work with the opportunity to move into a permanent position based on performance.
Schedule
Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (hours may vary)
Saturdays as needed
Full‑time, year‑round work
What You’ll Be Doing
Assist senior mechanics with truck and equipment repairs
Perform routine maintenance, including:
Oil changes
Brake pad replacements
Tire changes
Tune‑ups
Support general truck and equipment maintenance
Use hand and power tools safely and properly
Assist with more advanced repairs as skills improve
Keep the shop clean, safe, and organized
Jump in on other tasks as needed to keep operations running
What We’re Looking For
Reliable transportation to and from work
High school diploma or GED required
Automotive or diesel repair schooling preferred, not required
Experience using hand and power tools
Familiarity with gasoline and diesel equipment
Basic understanding of car, truck, or tractor engines
Willingness to learn and take direction
Some hands‑on repair experience preferred — training available for the right person
Strong work ethic, dependable, and eager to grow
