Saint-Gobain Site Controller - Manufacturing in Middleburg Heights, Ohio
The Cleveland, Ohio Site Controller acts as the primary financial steward and strategic business partner to the Plant Manager, overseeing all financial operations, cost accounting, and internal controls for a specific manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for driving financial integrity, analyzing operational performance (KPIs), leading budgeting and forecasting processes, and implementing cost-saving initiatives to enhance site profitability. The Site Controller translates complex manufacturing data into actionable financial insights to support daily operations and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Lead all site-level accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
Prepare financial reports.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, GAAP/IFRS, and local regulations.
Ensure the annual standard cost development process
Cost Accounting & Analysis
Monitor production, labor, and overhead costs.
Perform variances analysis and recommend corrective actions
Monitor Inventory Valuation/Accuracy
Support continuous improvement initiatives (WCM) by analyzing financial impact.
Operational Partnership
Collaborate with site leadership to optimize manufacturing process, reduce waste and improve margin
Provide financial insights to support investment decisions, capital projects, and resource allocation
Internal Controls & Compliance
Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
Lead annual self-assessment Gap analysis and review action plan with owners
Oversee audits and ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.
Capital Projects
- Evaluate Capital Expenditure (CapEx), ROI Analysis and track project cost to ensure budget adherence.
Essential Functions:
Month-end close in QAD, Smartco inputs, reconciliations/upload to Blackline (approver & preparer roles), coordinating & preparing internal financial reporting (Monthly GM report - Operational analysis of scrap, labor & overhead cost/variances, Inventory analysis)
Lead the annual completion of the ICRF gap analysis & ensure the execution of action plans, adherence - Segregation of Duties, system/access controls are in place. Evaluate site internal controls (review of PPS policies, purchasing authorities, etc. to ensure alignment with internal controls along with the ICRF 6 essentials). Assessing current accounting processes, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new innovative processes.
Support OPS Controller as well as the BU Controller with the AD HOC requests, annual plan, budget & standard cost development process. Proactively interact with supervisors, plant leadership team as well as senior management to ensure all parties have a clear and accurate picture of the plant's overall financial performance. Proactively researching issues - anticipating opportunities and providing answers & insight to key questions before they are asked. Advisor/Mentor/Business partner to the site as well as the BU.
Support World Class Manufacturing initiatives (participation in Kaizens, problem-solving events) ensuring countermeasures, projects are defined with clear financial objectives & results are tracked and reported accordingly. Co-manage along with the project manager the capital process & provide guidance/assistance preparing Madisons, CARs. Ensure the annual physical & fixed asset counts are properly conducted.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Accounting and/or Finance Required
Master's Degree-Accounting and/or Finance Preferred
Experience:
3 to 7 years of experience Finance/Accounting experience with a strong cost accounting background Required
2+ years' experience working on site in manufacturing Preferred
