How you’ll make an impact in this role
Expertly position patients to provide the best exposure for surgical procedures, utilizing stabilizing equipment while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
Provide clear visualization of the operative site through tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
Utilize advanced techniques to achieve both temporary and permanent homeostasis during procedures.
Assist with body plane closures, the application of wound dressings, and the securing of drainage systems.
Partner with the surgical team to prep the suite according to specific surgeon preference cards, ensuring all instruments and resources are ready.
Support post-case efficiency by assisting with room cleanup and the removal of soiled case carts, supplies, and trash.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
One or more of the following required:
Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and SurgicalAssisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Surgical Assistant credentialed from the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
