How you’ll make an impact in this role

  • Expertly position patients to provide the best exposure for surgical procedures, utilizing stabilizing equipment while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.

  • Provide clear visualization of the operative site through tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.

  • Utilize advanced techniques to achieve both temporary and permanent homeostasis during procedures.

  • Assist with body plane closures, the application of wound dressings, and the securing of drainage systems.

  • Partner with the surgical team to prep the suite according to specific surgeon preference cards, ensuring all instruments and resources are ready.

  • Support post-case efficiency by assisting with room cleanup and the removal of soiled case carts, supplies, and trash.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • One or more of the following required:

  • Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and SurgicalAssisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Surgical Assistant credentialed from the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
