Job Title: Machine Operator I

Job Description

The Machine Operator I plays a key role in the manufacturing process by refining parts through various machining methods and keeping the production cycle running smoothly. Working under general and routine supervision and following established procedures, this role operates production equipment to manufacture components that meet precise item specifications and quality standards.

Pay: $22/hr

Shift: OPTION 1: 4:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Thursday // OPTION 2: 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment such as brushing, lapping, rolling, drilling, chamfering, and grinding machines using existing setups and fixtures to produce parts to specification.

  • Start and stop machines as needed to maintain product quality, safety, and production efficiency.

  • Use quality control gauges and measuring tools, including dial calipers and outside and depth micrometers, to monitor production parts for conformance to specifications.

  • Inspect own work-in-process in accordance with established procedures to ensure consistent quality.

  • Submit parts for in-process inspection following accepted procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Make minor machine adjustments under routine supervision to maintain quality and consistency of production.

  • Maintain proper lubrication and fluid levels on machines to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

  • Remove scrap metal and debris from machines to maintain safe working conditions and efficient machine performance.

  • Report equipment or tooling malfunctions promptly to the appropriate lead personnel.

  • Move parts between work areas as required and accurately complete daily logs and necessary inspection reports.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production goals and manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machine Operator or in an equivalent role with demonstrated skills and product knowledge.

  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to work safely with production machinery.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently.

  • Ability to write by hand and use a keyboard to complete logs and reports.

  • Ability to operate small measurement devices such as calipers and micrometers and read fine graduations on micrometers.

  • Strong visual acuity for close detail work, microscope inspection, operating tools and machinery, using measurement devices, and visually inspecting small parts and defects.

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.

Work Environment

This position operates in a production and manufacturing environment focused on precision components and fluidic pathway optimization. You will work around specialized equipment used to produce components for product lines that may include column hardware, degassers, fluidic connections, manifolds, pumps, pump components, sensors, and valves. The role involves frequent interaction with industrial machinery, measurement devices, and inspection tools, and requires consistent attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures. The environment is hands-on and mechanically oriented, with regular standing, lifting, and movement of parts between work areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleborough, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
