Machine Operator *** The Machine Operator I plays a key role in the manufacturing process by refining parts through various machining methods and keeping the production cycle running smoothly. Working under general and routine supervision and following established procedures, this role operates production machines to manufacture components that meet precise item specifications and quality standards.*** Responsibilities: - Operate production equipment such as brushing, lapping, rolling, drilling, chamfering, and grinding machines using existing setups and fixtures to manufacture parts to specification. - Start and stop machines as needed to maintain product quality, safety, and production efficiency. - Use quality control gauges and standard measuring tools, including dial calipers and outside and depth micrometers, to monitor production parts for conformance to specifications. - Inspect own work-in-process according to accepted procedures to ensure consistent quality. - Submit parts for in-process inspection in accordance with established inspection procedures. - Under routine supervision, make minor machine adjustments necessary to maintain quality of production. - Maintain proper lubrication and fluid levels on machines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. - Remove scrap metal and debris from machines as needed to maintain safe and efficient machine operation. - Report equipment or tooling malfunctions promptly to the appropriate lead or supervisor. - Move parts between work areas as required to support production flow. - Accurately complete daily logs and required inspection reports to document production and quality results. - Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing operations. Essential Skills: - Experience working in a manufacturing environment. - Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machine Operator or equivalent role, with demonstrated skills and product knowledge. - Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand and work with production machinery. - Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently. - Ability to write by hand and use a keyboard for documentation and reporting. - Ability to operate small measurement devices and standard inspection tools. - Visual acuity sufficient for close detail work, microscope inspection, operating tools and machinery, using measurement devices, and visually inspecting small parts and defects. - High school diploma or equivalent education. - Capability to read fine graduations on micrometers accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications: - Ability to read and interpret blueprints is preferred. - Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred. - Experience using gauge blocks is preferred. - Experience with laser ZYGO or similar precision measurement equipment is preferred.
