A Day in the Life of a Senior Transportation Planner Project Manager at Hanson
Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver transit projects throughout Florida
Oversee transportation and transit planning, environmental analyses, and design reviews
Author reports and submissions to federal, state, and local agencies, including NEPA documentation
Assist in preparing and evaluating STOPS and RTC models for transit capital and operations costs
Manage project submittals, compliance evaluations, and coordination with support personnel and subconsultants
Collaborate with local governments, regional agencies, and transit authorities to facilitate project delivery
Develop detailed scopes and resource estimates for transit and rail projects
Build and maintain strong client relationships, participating in meetings to discuss project goals and progress
Evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement in collaboration with leadership
Contribute to a variety of transit, freight, and passenger rail projects, including Commuter Rail and Bus Rapid Transit
Support business development efforts through RFP responses, interviews, and marketing initiatives
Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Skills:
Strong knowledge of transportation planning and federal regulations (FTA, FRA, FDOT)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience in transit and transportation studies, public engagement, rail systems, and environmental planning
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
Willingness to travel for day trips or evening meetings, with flexibility for varying hours
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban/Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, or Transportation Engineering
10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, with a focus on transit and rail projects
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or AICP designation preferred but not required
Active involvement in technical or professional organizations is a plus
Salary Range: $130,000 - $200,000, based on experience. Position is eligible for annual discretionary bonus.
