Overview

The Director of Program Management serves as the embedded PMO lead for a healthcare digital commerce platform operating within a highly matrixed enterprise environment. This role is responsible for orchestrating complex, cross‑functional delivery across technology, product, creative, data, compliance, and business teams to enable the growth and operational excellence of a healthcare commerce product that functions as a “startup layer” inside a large, regulated organization. You will think strategically about the client business, be a lead problem solver to support execution with the internal teams.

This leader will partner closely with client stakeholders and delivery teams to manage program governance, intake and prioritization, dependencies, risks, and execution alignment across numerous interconnected teams and systems.

Responsibilities

Program & PMO Leadership

  • Establish, operate, and continuously improve PMO governance, operating rhythms, and communication frameworks to support a complex healthcare commerce program.

  • Coordinate and orchestrate delivery across approximately 8–10 cross‑functional teams (client-side and agency-side), including technology, platform, CRM, creative/UX, compliance, legal, finance, research, and operations.

  • Manage dotted‑line partnerships with multiple program managers, scrum masters, product leads, and functional leads across distributed teams.

  • Coordinate requirements across cross‑functional teams to establish and maintain a clear, unified program vision that delivery teams can effectively execute against.

  • Assess the effectiveness of team dynamics, communication patterns, and collaboration models; proactively diagnose challenges and implement corrective actions to improve delivery outcomes.

  • Navigate and resolve challenging situations and stakeholder interactions , facilitating large group working sessions to drive alignment and enable clients to make complex or difficult decisions.

  • Effectively estimate engagements by performing both top‑down and bottom‑up analyses across digital projects and programs to support planning, scoping, and delivery forecasting.

  • Support staffing strategy and negotiations across programs, balancing capacity, skillsets, and delivery priorities.

Intake, Prioritization & Governance

  • Lead program intake processes by receiving requests from multiple stakeholder groups and facilitating governance‑based prioritization and decisioning.

  • Partner with senior technology and product leaders to define and operationalize prioritization frameworks, while managing execution sequencing across workstreams.

  • Facilitate complex stakeholder conversations to surface key decisions, clarify tradeoffs, and ensure alignment across competing priorities.

Delivery Oversight & Risk Management

  • Shape and govern the end‑to‑end program roadmap in collaboration with Product, Technology, and Business stakeholders, ensuring delivery teams are aligned to priorities, dependencies are actively managed, and work consistently delivers value to the product.

  • Own program‑level dependency mapping, risk and issue management, and milestone alignment across teams operating on different tools and cadences.

  • Ensure proactive identification of regulatory, legal, compliance, and medical SME needs inherent in healthcare initiatives.

  • Maintain high‑level integrated roadmaps and reporting using a mix of automated tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and manual artifacts (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel) as needed.

Stakeholder & Client Partnership

  • Act as a trusted program leader and facilitator for senior client stakeholders within a highly matrixed enterprise.

  • Translate business objectives into executable program plans while managing expectations, communications, and delivery outcomes.

  • Enable collaboration across technical, creative, and strategic disciplines to support end‑to‑end product and service delivery.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of project and program management experience, including work within a digital or marketing agency environment, with demonstrated client‑facing leadership.

  • Proven experience working across marketing, product, technology, strategy, creative, data & analytics teams, including leadership of MarTech and/or e-commerce platform delivery within complex programs.

  • Experience leading “never‑been‑done‑before” initiatives, including navigating evolving scope, ambiguity, and changing requirements.

  • Demonstrated expertise in program risk evaluation and mitigation, including risks related to scope creep, client relationships, delivery health, and team morale.

  • Experience operating within a distributed delivery model, leading diverse, multi ‑disciplinary teams across two or more organizations, and collaborating effectively in multi‑cultural environments across end‑to‑end engagements.

  • Strong systems thinking capabilities, with the ability to identify interdependencies and inter-connectivity across multiple streams of work, teams, and platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience navigating large, matrixed organizations, with the ability to influence stakeholders through clear storytelling, data, and structured communication.

  • Comfort and credibility presenting to senior leaders and executive stakeholders, facilitating alignment and decision‑making.

  • Strong, process‑oriented project and program management expertise, with a solid understanding of Agile ways of working and experience across one or more methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe), Waterfall, and hybrid approaches.

  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to manage challenging dynamics and drive productive outcomes.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering programs within healthcare or other highly regulated industries, such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, financial services, or insurance.

  • Ability to partner effectively with legal, compliance, IT security, and governance stakeholders throughout the full delivery lifecycle.

  • Role supports distributed and remote cross‑functional teams, with an expectation of real‑time collaboration during core ET business hours and reasonable overlap with India team (IST) working hours.

Compensation Range: $135,375 - $185,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
